🎓 About the Fellowship
This TWAS‑S.N. Bose Postgraduate Fellowship is a collaboration between TWAS and India’s S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata. It’s tailored for young scientists from the Global South aiming to conduct PhD research in physical sciences. The programme supports full-time enrolment or sandwich-style PhD candidates.
🧑🎓 Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this fellowship, applicants must:
- Be under 35 years old (by 31 Dec 2025) .
- Hold citizenship of a developing country (excluding India) and no existing residency visa in India or other developed countries.
- Possess an MSc (or equivalent) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics, including at least 5 years of combined UG and PG study.
- Secure a preliminary acceptance letter from a supervisor at S.N. Bose by 16 August 2025 (bose.res.in).
- Demonstrate English proficiency, intent to return home after fellowship, and no other commitments during the fellowship.
🎁 Fellowship Benefits
Selected fellows will receive:
- Monthly stipend for living and food expenses (non-convertible).
- Free on-campus housing provided by the institute.
- Partial medical reimbursement under a contributory scheme (CGHS-aligned) – while fellows are advised to secure their own medical insurance.
